Synlait Milk Has Secured Approval From The Ministry for MPI

New Zealand-based Synlait Milk has secured approval from the Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI) for its dry blending and consumer packaging plant.

Synlait Milk Wins Approval in New Zealand for Its Canning Plant

With the MPI approval of Synlait Milk's Risk Management Programme , the company can now pack and export retail-ready product from its manufacturing site.

The $28.5m packaging plant has the capacity to process 30,000 tonnes of finished infant formula per year.

Synlait Milk managing director John Penno said, "Today is an important day for our business. We now have an integrated facility on one site that gives us full manufacturing control and delivers on the needs of consumers looking for nutritious and safe food.

"The packaging plant provides further support for our value added strategy of supplying high quality finished infant formula and nutritional products to our customers.

"We look forward with confidence to working with authorities in New Zealand and China to achieve registration as soon as possible."

In addition, the company is yet to receive approval to export finished infant formula to China. The required documentation has been sent to the Chinese regulatory body today by MPI.
