Vehicle Safety Technologies Showcased by Chevrolet

Chevrolet is planning to showcase vehicle safety technologies at the North American International Auto Show.

The technology includes Side blind zone alert which uses one left and a right short-range radar that are hidden in the rear corners of the vehicle to monitors up to 11 feet back from the side mirror and one lane over from both sides of the vehicle.

The technology can be combination with lane change alert technology, and it is already present in Chevrolet Cruze, SS, Traverse, Tahoe and Impala.

Rear cross traffic alert is another technology used by Chevorlet which can help drivers avoid hitting approaching traffic by using short-range radar on the left and right side of the vehicle.

The company emphasized about a rear vision camera and rear cross traffic alert that can act like an extra set of eyes for the drivers.

Chevrolet also mentioned that most of its 2015 Chevrolet models are available with a rear vision camera that that can be combined with side mirrors, diligence and rearview mirror can help improve visibility.

General Motors Active Safety technical fellow Raymond Kiefer said: "For decades, the focus has been protecting people from being injured or killed in a crash.

"While we're still keenly focused on that, now we have a real opportunity to help prevent those crashes with technologies that warn drivers of potential dangers."
