Climate Change Seen as Boding Well for Increasing Foot Traffic at Brick-and-Mortar Retail

With the crucial 27-day, traditional Holiday season upon us, which will start for many retailers and shoppers after Mom puts away the last of the pie on Thanksgiving night, Planalytics is forecasting warmer and drier readings than in 2013 for much of the U.S. and Central and Eastern Canada. The expected climate change, except for South Atlantic, Southeast and Southern CA, is seen as boding well for increasing foot traffic at brick-and-mortar retail.

But if this weather forcast holds ture, it could cast a shadow over consumer demand for seasonal items in Nomber and December across much of the US. This includes everything from ice melt and scrapers to winter weather accessories and outwear. Planalytics says that densely populated Northeast will have a warmer Black Friday. That is in contrast to the second full week of November in 2013 when an arctic blast swept across much of the US.

Whether shopping online or in traditional brick-and-mortar, shoppers are attracted to a number of benefits being offered by retailers from free shipping to price matching.
