Sopakco to Expand Operations in South Carolina, by Installing a New Fitment Pouch Line

Processed food packaging company Sopakco will expand its operations in Marion County, South Carolina, by installing a new fitment pouch line.

The expansion will see around $4.5m in investment, creating 56 new jobs, and will take place at the company's Marion County headquarters on South Cypress Street in Mullins.

The new fitment pouch line will be capable of producing a wide range of different food and snack items.

Commenting on the expansion, Sopakco president Lonnie Thompson said: "Sopakco is pleased and excited to be able to expand our operational capabilities here at our Mullins facility, and at the same time, create a number of much needed jobs here in our county.

"We would like to take this opportunity to say thank you to everyone who has offered their assistance in order to make this a success."

The company will receive $200,000 in Rural Infrastructure Fund grant from Coordinating Council for Economic Development which will be used in the real property improvements related to the project.

Sopakco previously announced an expansion of its South Carolina operations in June last year, creating 120 new jobs.
