Increasing Winnipeg Production Plant

US-based plastic packaging manufacturer Winpak is all set to invest $10m in a bid to expand the company’s production plant in Winnipeg, Canada.

Work on the addition of 80,000ft2 space is expected to get underway in spring 2013, with completion slated before the end of 2013, winnipegfreepress.com reported.

Winpak chief financial officer Ken Kuchma said the latest expansion is a portion of an estimated $70m in capital-works projects that the company hopes to take up in 2013.

The company will use the bulk of the additional space to expand the production capacity of the plant, and the remaining space will be for warehouse.

Winpak manufactures and distributes packaging materials, related packaging machines and its products are used mainly for the protection of perishable foods, beverages, and in health care applications.
