Tesla has unveiled ‘D’ car, a higher version of its Model S car, where the D stands for dual motor.

The new car will have all-wheel drive system and will be able to accelerate from 0-60 mph in 3.2 seconds, and reach top speed of 155 mph.

The company is planning to launch three variants of the car which will include an all-wheel drive version. For the acceleration boost, users will have to pay a $4,000 add-on to the basic and mid-level models of the Model S.

The car will feature autopilot along with image-recognition camera, 360-degree sonar system and long-range radar to recognise pedestrians and signs.

As cited in USA Today, the car will have a package of new safety features, including the ability to read speed-limit signs and shift speeds.

The flagship car P85D is expected to go on sale in December, and the other versions might hit stores in February, reported Associated Press.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk said at the launch event "This car is nuts. It's like taking off from a carrier deck."
