Arizona-Based PCI Nuclear Pharmacy Acquires Daxor's BVA-100 Blood Volume Analyzer

Arizona-based PCI Nuclear Pharmacy, a provider of unit dose radiopharmaceuticals and ancillary products used in nuclear medicine, has acquired Daxor's BVA-100 blood volume analyzer.

BVA-100 instrument, which is used in conjunction with Daxor's single use Volumex kit, is designed for measuring patient's total blood volume, red blood cell volume and plasma volume.

Published studies have shown that measuring blood volume using the BVA-100 is important in treating heart failure, critical care patients in intensive care units, and in diagnosing the true status of complex anemias and syncope (fainting).

PCI Nuclear patient care infusion managing member Ridge Smidt said, "We are very pleased to be able to begin to provide this valuable service to the hospitals in the community."

Daxor president Joseph Feldschuh said, "The model of nuclear pharmacies providing blood volume measurement services is one that offers the potential for many more hospitals that do not have a nuclear medicine department to provide this essential valuable service to patients."
