Kawan Food to Open New Factory in Pulau Indah, Malaysia by The End of This Year

Frozen pastry products maker Kawan Food will commission its new factory in Pulau Indah, Malaysia by the end of this year.

The new plant houses two-storey frozen food factory and a three-storey office, which will allow the company to centralize its Malaysian manufacturing operations.

The company plans to shift its production operations from its existing facilities in Section 15 and Section 16 in Shah Alam to the new 15-acre Pulau Indah factory.

The new factory is expected to have a production capacity that is five times its two existing factories in Shah Alam, The Start reported.

Kawan Food CEO Jon Fang was quoted by StarBiz as saying: "We are looking at some different channels of distribution, and different types of products besides our traditional South-East Asia.

"We are also looking at some new product categories, with the focus still very much on higher convenience products."

In addition, Kawan Food operates a factory in Nantong, China, which exports a majority of its production to other markets, besides serving the local market.
