International Desserts, an establishment based in Glendale, California is recalling Uncle Eddies Vegan Oatmeal Chocolate Cookies in 12oz. bags as they may contain walnuts which is not mentioned on the label.
According to the company, the product labeled as Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies contained Chocolate Chip Cookies with walnuts, product containing walnuts was distributed in packaging that did not reveal the presence of walnuts. The product was distributed to retail grocers across the nation.
People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to treenuts including chestnuts, brazil nuts, walnuts, hazelnuts, pecans, pine nuts, cashews are at risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume this product.
Subsequent investigation revealed that the problem was caused by a temporary breakdown in the company's production and packaging processes.
There have been no illnesses reported to date in connection with this product.
The affected product, Vegan Oatmeal Chocolate Chip cookies are packed in a 12oz. brown paper bag and feature the lot numbers #110813, and #58513.
Customers who have purchased the recalled product are advised to return it to the place of purchase for a full refund.
