Cosentino Is Presently Building a New Plant in Cantoria to Make New Ultra-Compact Material

The Spanish supplier of quartz and natural stone surfaces, Cosentino,is presently building a new plant in Cantoria to make its new ultra-compact material, Dekton. This product contains a variety of undisclosed inorganic components and is to be launched next spring. Cosentino has developed a new technology to make Dekton, known as particle sintering (PST), which is similar to technologies used by the ceramics, flat glass and quartz surface industries. It is to be marketed towards professional architects. Potential applications, both indoor and outdoor, include flooring, stairs, cladding, facades, worktops and work surfaces. Cosentino said that Dekton was UV-resistant. The material is to be offered in a 3.20 m x 1.44 m format and in thicknesses of 8, 20 and 30 mm. The product can be made in colours identical to wood, rust, natural stone, metal and solid colours and in a vast array of textures. The company plans to enhance its portfolio of colours and textures in the coming years.
