2017 Fiat 124 Spider Makes Its Debut

Fiat has unveiled the 2017 Fiat 124 Spider featuring new technology and safety features.

The car was originally introduced nearly 50 years ago and since then it has undergone several changes.

The new Fiat 124 Spider is powered by 1.4-liter MultiAir Turbo four-cylinder engine capable of producing 160 horsepower and 184 lb.-ft. of torque, and users will get an option to choose from a six-speed manual transmission or a six-speed automatic transmission.

To improve the driving experience, the car is fitted with Noise vibration and harshness (NVH) enhancements which includes acoustic front windshield and insulation treatments for a quite ride.

The company has used design cues from the original Spider and blended it with features like hexagonal upper grille and grille pattern, power domes on the front hood, and sharp horizontal rear lamps to give it a new look.

Fiat 124 Spider will be available in two trim levels Classica and Lusso with numerous color options including Red Clear Coat, White Clear Coat, Jet Black Metallic, and Gray Metallic amongst several others.

FCA head of Fiat brand Olivier Franois said: "There's no better way to celebrate 50 years of the Fiat 124 Spider than to bring back this iconic roadster, pairing its Italian styling of the past with all of the modern performance and technology of today.

"The 124 Spider expands the FIAT family, bringing to market yet another head-turning, fun-to-drive vehicle for our customers."

Some of the safety features of the new Spider include Blind-spot Monitoring, Rear Cross Path detection and ParkView rear backup camera.
