Apple Rumored to Release 3 iPads Next Spring

In March, Apple released a more portable 9.7-inch version of its powerhouse device, the iPad Pro. But the rumor mill is churning out new speculation that the company may release more iPad Pro models, this time from the Japanese Apple blog, Macotakara.

The post (written in Japanese) suggests that the iPad Pro will be incarnated in three different sizes and is scheduled for spring 2017. The smallest model will be a 7.9-inch iPad Pro, which can be viewed as an overhauled iPad Mini 4. This device is expected to have a Smart Connector, four audio speakers, a 12-megapixel camera with True Tone Flash and a True Tone Display.

Macotakara also reported that a new 10.1-inch iPad Pro and an update to 2015's 12.9-inch model is in the works. Both of these iPad Pros are speculated to be equipped with a 12-megapixel iSight camera, True Tone Flash and True Tone Display. The iPads will include headphone jacks too, unlike Apple's current pair of flagship phones, the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus.

This isn't the first time we heard of the possibility of incoming iPad Pro models. In August, MacRumors reported that a reliable KGI securities analyst predicts three Pro devices as well, and added that an iPad with a flexible screen may hit markets in 2018. Without any official word from Apple, however, these speculations will remain rumors until the company announces more details.

CNET reached out to Apple for comment but did not immediately receive a response.
