The Audi Sport Quattro and Nanuk Quattro Concepts Are Being Assessed for Production

Audi Sport Quattro, Nanuk Quattro Being Evaluated for Production

The head of Audi UK has confirmed the Audi Sport quattro and Nanuk quattro concepts are currently being evaluated for production, with both models aimed at boosting the marque’s image and desirability.

Andre Konsbruck told Autocar the two concept cars –both unveiled at this year’s Frankfurt motor show –are viable for series production, with business cases for both currently being evaluated.

Appointed UK brand director in September, Konsbruck said every concept Audi shows has production possibilities, “and these cars are no different”.

“I can see a future where we aim to deliver different, innovative premium cars that people aspire to own, such as these,” Konsbruck said.

“They will be niche, and they will push our price ceiling, but they deliver on the brand image and build the desirability of the brand as a whole.

“However popular they are, we cannot just build Audi A3s, that’s clear. Audi has always done special projects to drive its premium image, and cars like the [Sport] quattro and Nanuk could achieve that.”

Despite the positive comments, Audi AG is yet to officially confirm production for either the 515kW/880Nm hybrid-powered Audi Sport quattro concept or the 400kW/1000Nm 5.0-litre V10 twin-turbo-diesel Nanuk concept – the former claimed to reach 100km/h in 3.7 seconds, the latter 3.8.

The second hint of an upcoming re-imagined 1980s all-wheel-drive rally car, the Audi Sport quattro concept was seen on road for the first time in October as part of Audi’s 100,000 Facebook likes celebrations.
