Citroen has launched Airbump exterior protective panels for its C4 Cactus passenger car.
The technology has been created by polymer materials maker PolyOne and the air-filled Airbump panels are capable of compressing up to 20 mm and get back into its original shape instantly.
Citron expects that the new protective panels to reduce the vehicle ownership cost as it will protect the car from daily wear and tear occurring from bumps.
PolyOne developed a specialty OnColor Smartbatch color and additive technology along with Citroen design team, which is designed to improve panels' durability.
PolyOne Color & Additives EMEA & India general manager Christoph Palm said: "By working with Citroen and its Tier 1 suppliers, we were able to develop an advanced solution that provides the panels with uniform, attractive, and durable color despite exposure to sunlight, heat, and detergents."
