Samsung Techwin and MIRA Have Partnered to Develop New Battery and Powertrain Systems

Samsung Techwin and MIRA have partnered to develop new battery and powertrain systems for automotive hybrid and electric vehicles.

Using cell technologies, the partners will work together to design battery and powertrain systems for commercial vehicle, defence vehicle or passenger cars.

The agreement will combine MIRA's battery and powertrain systems expertise with Samsung Techwin's cells and manufacturing facilities.

MIRA chief commercial and technical officer Geoff Davis said: "This partnership has been formed in response to the increasing demand for hybrid and electric powertrains.

"Bringing together global skills and expertise, these exciting new developments will enable us to work in partnership with OEMs to understand their precise applications and develop a solution that delivers the strongest savings and greatest efficiency."

Over the last three years, the partners have been working on battery pack and electric power train development.

Samsung Techwin senior vice president Hong Ha said: "Samsung Techwin can access high quality battery and powertrain systems components and manufacturing expertise, and MIRA has excellent capabilities and expertise in the automotive field, especially in design, testing and validation."
