Rochon Genova Explores Possibility of Potential Class Preceding Over Takata Airbag Issue

Canadian law firm Rochon Genova is exploring the possibility of a potential class preceding on behalf of Canadian vehicles owners over Takata airbag issue.

The announcement comes in the wake of the recent recalls of more than a million vehicles across Canada due to faulty airbags.

Under certain circumstances the airbags could deploy improperly and the inflator could rupture to release sharp metals on to the occupants of the vehicle, which could add to the injury.

Canadian division of Honda recently recalled 700,000 vehicles across the country due to faulty airbags and around 11 million vehicles by different makers have recalled their products due to similar issues in the US.

Rochon Genova LLP partner Joel Rochon said: "Takata's behavior is unacceptable, and they should be publicly held to account.

"The extent of the problem is only just beginning to emerge."

Takata has refused the proposal of nationwide recall by US regulators and the company has also been accused of hiding the issue which was discovered back in 2004, which has now led to criminal investigation by the US senators.
