Apple will be the largest tenant in the redeveloped Battersea Power Station by the banks of the river Thames.

Apple is planning to move its UK headquarters into a London landmark made famous by rock stars and time travelers.

Apple will move into the famous but long-empty Battersea Power Station on the south bank of the river Thames in 2021, the company said Thursday. The coal-fired power station opened in the the 1930s but has stood virtually derelict since 1983. It's currently under redevelopment and will see offices, shops and a hotel share the site with 4,000 homes. Apple is expected to be the biggest tenant and said it will relocate 1,400 employees there by 2021.

The iconic four towers appeared on the cover of Pink Floyd's "Animals" album, and the station has been used as a location for various films and TV shows including "Children of Men", "The Dark Knight" and "Doctor Who".
