KRS Technologies Has Introduced Safkote Applied to Paper

KRS Technologies has introduced Safkote, a product lineup of food-based coatings that can be applied to paper to make them grease-resistant.

Derived from generally regarded as safe (GRAS) components, the coating is compliant with the existing roll coaters.

The water -based coatings display grease resistance of 12 on 3M Kit Test, and can be heat cured in seconds, the company claims.

The grease resistant coatings, which are currently available in the market and usually used in fast food packaging, are made of components such as wax, fluorocarbons, or plastics, trigerring concerns of sustainability and toxicity.

Offering measures for food-safety, the product lineup is claimed to have been drawn from readily available non-toxic and renewable commodities found globally.

Technology resource firm KRS offers coating formulations and application expertise. The firm develops UV curable coatings for automotive applications as well as print and packaging applications with chemical and scratch-resistance.
