Epistar's Revenues for May Decreased 12.11% on Month

LED epitaxial wafer and chip maker Epistar has reported consolidated revenues of NT$2.27 billion (US$73.8 million) for May, decreasing 12.11% on month and 18.82% on year, while sales of NT$11.498 billion for January-May dropped 0.42% on year.

In view of rebounding demand for TV backlighting applications, Epistar expects orders to be received in the second quarter to increase about 10% sequentially. Epistar also expects demand for LED lighting to rebound in the third quarter.

LED packaging service providers Everlight Electronics, Unity Opto Technology and Advanced Optoelectronic Technology (AOT) also saw sequential decreases in consolidated revenue for May.

Everlight's consolidated revenues rreached NT$2.2 billion in May, dropping 9.24% on month and 15.39% on year. Its consolidated revenues for January-May totaled NT$11.871 billion, up 4.26% on year.

Unity Opto's May consolidated revenues were NT$652 million, dipping 30.32% on month but rising 5.63% on year, while its January-May figure of NT$3.930 billion increased 17.91% on year.

AOT saw May consolidated revenues of NT$404 million slip 28.52% on month and 28.19% on year and itsJanuary-May figure of NT$2.724 billion fell 4.10% on year.
