Taiwan-based solar wafer maker Green Energy Technology (GET) saw capacity utilization rate fall to 50% in September, nevertheless, the firm reported capacity has been close to full in November due to a sudden surge of outsourcing orders from Europe-, US-, China- and Japan-based firms.
Company general manager, Shih-Yuan Lin, confirmed on November 6 that the firm is close to full capacity for crystal growing, and has been selective in accepting orders. Any orders below cash costs have been turned away, said Lin.
Lin added that the firm has been pushing up the percentage of outsourcing orders from 40-50% to 60% in October and close to 70% in November.
Due to rising capacity utilization rate, production cost has been falling, said Lin. In addition, losses from falling inventory value have been lowered by pushing up outsourcing to 70%, added Lin.
