Hyundai Motor Has Delivered Five Units of Its IX35 Fuel Cell Model Vehicle to London

South Korean carmaker Hyundai Motor has delivered five units of its ix35 Fuel Cell model vehicle to London in UK that will be part of the London Hydrogen Network Expansion (LNHE) project.

The delivery is part of the company's contract with LHNE project as a supplier of the hydrogen transport infrastructure and operation in order to establish the UK's first hydrogen transport network in London and south east England.

LHNE project, which is a government-backed initiative, will test the hydrogen-fuelled vehicles by putting it into daily business use.

Based on the ix35 compact SUV, the vehicles are equipped with a 100kW fuel cell stack and two hydrogen storage tanks having total capacity of 5.64 kg that allows a total transit range of 594km on a single refuel with top speed of 160km/h.

Hyundai is planning to manufacture 1,000 units of the hydrogen-powered ix35 Fuel Cell vehicles by 2015 mainly for the public sector and private fleets.

Previously, the manufacturer has already signed contracts to lease the ix35 Fuel Cell to municipal fleets in Denmark and Sweden.
