Mercedes-Benz to Launch Its New MID-Size Van Model Vito

German automobile major Mercedes-Benz’s Argentine unit gears up to launch its new mid-size van model Vito during the ongoing seventh edition of Buenos Aires International Motor Show.

With production of the vehicle beginning this month at Mercedes-Benz plant Centro Industrial Juan Manuel Fangio near Buenos Aires, the carmaker aims at expanding its limits on the technological front outside Europe with the local assembly base.

Later on, Vito would be exported to other Latin American countries post-production from the Argentine plant, the company said in a statement.

Mercedes-Benz Vans head Volker Mornhinweg said: "Our growth strategy is already taking root. We are continuing to intensify our presence in the regions of opportunity in the US and Latin America which are important for Vans - and do so at a fast pace.

"Following the market launch of the new Vito in the U.S., Argentina is next. I am delighted to see the great commitment of the international Vans team."

Mercedes-Benz pumped in $220m in its Argentine unit between 2013 and 2015 to fund improvement in capacity expansion which ultimately paved the way for the launch of Vito.

Joachim Maier, entrusted with overseeing Mercedes-Benz Vans in Argentina, said: "In order for us to continue playing a leading role in the market, we will be investing further in this location and will be extending our portfolio of products for the Argentine clients.

"The new Vito will convince with its safety standards, its efficiency and its driving features. The areas of application are diverse: ranging from delivery service to passenger transportation in tourist regions, the Vito provides an attractive offer to clients."
