Production of 2016 Nissan Titan XD Starts at Mississippi Plant

Nissan has started the production of its 2016 Nissan TITAN XD full-size pickup truck at the Canton, Mississippi assembly facility.

The new Nissan TITAN XD will be produced along with other 2016 Nissan lineup including the new Nissan Maxima, redesigned Nissan Altima and the updated Nissan Sentra.

The pickup truck is powered by 5.0-liter Cummins V8 turbo diesel engine capable of producing 310 bhp and 555 lb-ft of torque which is expected to compete against the Ram truck.

Nissan TITAN XD will be available in five different trim variants and feature LED headlights, a spray-in bedliner, and 20-inch aluminum wheels, running boards and LED bed lighting.

The 4.2ft2 Canton facility opened its doors in 2003 and since then it has produced more than three million vehicles including Armada, Frontier, NV Cargo Van, NV Passenger Van and Murano.

Nissan Motor executive vice president José Muoz said: "It has been a long, hard journey getting to today and I want to express my appreciation to the entire TITAN XD team.

"And now, the real hard work begins right here on this production line - delivering the promise of innovation and excitement designed into the new TITAN to our customers."

"Nissan enters 2016 not only with a reinvigorated product lineup, but also with tremendous momentum in terms of sales and share gains.

"And one of the key reasons for our success is our dedication to building the vehicles we sell in North America here in North America - with 85 percent sold here, built here," added Muoz.
