Think of 26, 452 Vehicles Over Defective Part

German automaker Volkswagen Group is planning to voluntarily recall 26,452 units of 2014 vehicles over a defective O-ring issue in powertrain.

The recall includes all the vehicles powered by 1.8L turbocharged engines including the Jetta, Passat, Beetle, and Beetle convertible models.

All the vehicles recalled were built from 01 February 2014 and 06 April 2014 and comprised of O-ring seals made from other materials.

According to the carmaker, the bad O-ring seals in the transmission air cooler are not able to completely seal the gap between the oil cooler and transmission resulting in leakage of fluid that might lead to a potential vehicle fire.

The company has claimed that no cases of vehicle fires, accidents or injuries regarding the issue have been reported, according to a National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) filing.

Following the recall, the carmaker plans to replace the defective O-ring with a new one.
