Ford Has Started Production of Its 2015 F-150 Pickup Truck

Ford has started production of its 2015 F-150 pickup truck at the company’s Kansas City Assembly Plant.

The company has hired More than 900 new workers to meet the production demands and to ensue seamless production of the F-150.

Back in 2011, Ford announced $1.1bn investment towards expansion and retooling of the Kansas City Assembly Plant.

As part of the plan, the company added a new body shop with more than 500 new robots that conduct joining technology and some robots are also used to install roof and door panels, and to transfer the trucks to the final assembly.

The 2015 F-150 features 2.7-liter EcoBoost engine with fuel economy ratings of 19 mpg on city, 26 mpg on highway and 22 mpg combined.

Ford president Joe Hinrichs said, "The all-new F-150 has surpassed our expectations - setting new standards for full-size truck capability, technology and efficiency.

"With production starting at Kansas City Assembly, we are better poised to start meeting growing customer demand for our pickup."

Apart from the production of the next generation F-150, the production line of the Kansas plant also includes 8-foot cargo box and heavy payload packages that are designed to fulfill the needs of commercial fleet customers.
