Lenovo 2Q16 Revenues Down, Net Profit up on Year

Lenovo has posted second-quarter consolidated revenues of US$10.1 billion, decreasing 6% on year, gross margin 15.3%, operating profit US$281 million, up 97%, and net profit US$173 million, up 64%, according to the company.

Lenovo shipped 13.2 million notebooks and desktops globally in the second quarter and brought in revenues of US$7 billion for PCs and tablets, with a global market share of 21.1%. Second-quarter revenues from smartphones, including models under the brand Motorola, stood at US$1.7 billion, while revenues for servers, storage equipment, software and services reached US$1.1 billion.

Of second-quarter consolidated revenues, US$2.9 billion came from China, down 9.8% on year, US$3 billion from North America and Latin America, down 6.6%, US$2.5 billion from Europe, the Middle East and Africa, down 7.3%, and US$1.7 billion from Asia Pacific excluding China.
