Burton's Biscuit Is Set to Invest ?13.5m at Its Facility in Llantarnam

UK-based Burton’s Biscuit is set to invest £13.5m at its facility in Llantarnam, South Wales to boost production and support new product development in order to meet the increasing demand for its products.

With the latest investment, the company will initially deploy control room technology at Llantarnam and will be extended to other production facilities in Blackpool and Edinburgh by the end of this year.

Burton's Biscuit is also investing in automated and packaging technology in order to improve efficiency across its facilities.

The company stated that the investment will improve quality, consistency and efficiency as well as provide additional capacity to cater to the increasing demand. It will also help drive the company's power brands including Jammy Dodgers and Cadbury biscuits.

Burton's Biscuit chief supply chain officer Neil Grocock said that continued investment in supply chain and manufacturing capabilities is central to Burton's vision for being a brand-focused business and launch new products to market quicker than any other company in the biscuit market.

Burton's Biscuit was formed from the merger of Burton's Gold Medal Biscuits and Horizon Biscuit in October 2000, and re-branded from Burton's Foods to Burton's Biscuit in November 2011. The company's products include Cadbury Digestives, Cadbury Fingers, Lyons Coconut Delights, Lyons Cookies, Lyons Digestive, Lyons Fig Rolls, Lyons Jam Teacakes, Lyons Toffypops, Maryland Big & Chunky Choc Chunk And Crunchy Flapjack Cookies, Maryland Big & Chunky Choc Chunk And Hazelnut Crunch Cookies and Jammie Dodgers and Mini Jammie Dodgers among others.
