RS Components says it has recorded over 300,000 downloads of 3D CAD models from the RS Components website in two years after launch of the service.
"The rate at which engineers are using our web resources as their source for 3D models has really taken off, and in the past twelve months we have logged double the amount of downloads as in the previous year to reach this impressive figure," said Mark Cundle, head of technical marketing, RS Components.
The number of downloads in Asia Pacific has hit over 52, 000 downloads with a record of over 22,000 downloads by China, the most active country in the region.
"Our data analysis shows that the uptake is truly global with downloads in Asia Pacific especially China exceeding our expectations," said Cundle. The distributor's 3D catalogue now exceeds 30,000 models from more than 40 manufacturers.
These models are available for download in most 3D CAD formats, and are accessible via the 3D CAD microsite or the ModelSource component library on DesignSpark.
