Hyundai Motor Issued a Voluntary Recall on 43,500 Genesis Vehicles in The US

South Korean automaker Hyundai Motor has issued a voluntary recall on 43,500 Genesis vehicles of certain model year 2009-2012 in the US, as the vehicles may contain brake fluid which does not protect against corrosion of the Hydraulic Electronic Control Unit (HECU).

The company noted that as a consequence, if the module corrodes, reduced brake effectiveness of the affected vehicles will result in increasing the risk of a crash.

These vehicles were manufactured from 30 April 2008, through 28 March 2012. The recall is expected to begin by the end of December 2013.

The company will inspect the HECU module for proper operation, and will replace the modules as necessary, free of charge.

It will replace the factory brake fluid in those vehicles that have not previously had the factory brake fluid replaced. It will also notify the owners of the affected vehicles and instruct them to bring their vehicle to a dealer for service.
