Svani Motors Will Disclose a New Vehicle Assembly Plant in Ghana for Indian Manufacturer

Africa based automobile distributor Svani Motors will open a new vehicle assembly plant in Ghana, that will assemble vehicles for Indian vehicle manufacturer Mahindra.

Under the construction plan, the distributor has acquired a 9.6acre land along the Accra-Tema Motorway, where it plans to build a modern automobile plaza including an assembly plant and a service centre.

Svani Group executive chairman Thomas Svanikier said the decision to build the assembly plant was informed by the need to explore the vast investment potentials and service needs of the vehicle market in the sub-region.

"We will start assembling the wheelers and then move on to assemble the pick-ups in 2014," Svanikier said.

The new automobile plaza is expected to meet the demand for of the fast expanding local automobile market, while providing vehicle services to Ghana and neighboring countries.

Mahindra Africa senior general manager Sanjay Jadhav said the company is a well-recognized brand in Ghana and have a strong presence in the institutional segment with its pick-up and SUV range.

According to the company, the introduction of the new range of Mahindra vehicles in the country was part of the plans to improve the comfort levels of customers.

"This is also in line with the Mahindra brand philosophy of rise, which includes driving positive change in the market with alternate thinking, Jadhav added.

"Our aim is to offer mobility solutions to customers in Ghana that meet their needs."
