The food company has recalled 50,000 tubs of Bisto for Chick Gravy Granules and Reduced Salt Bisto For Chicken Gravy Granules from the market due to an alleged manufacturing error. But the products have already been distributed across retailers and supermarkets in the UK.

Although the firm stated that not all of the 170g tubs would contain the steel shavings, it was issuing a recall as a precautionary measure. All these tubs came from one batch, which has been affected by a fault at its Worksop facility in Nottinghamshire.

The metal pieces fell into the product containers by a fault in a filler bowl on the production line following some maintenance work. This led to some friction against the metal bolts, leading to some metal pieces falling into the granules, reported The Independent.

The production codes of the affected tubs are BBE JAN 2017 and L5208.

The company has advised customers who have bought these products to avoid consuming it. It has also issued a public apology through its website. Customers who have purchased these products could return it to place of purcahse for full refund.
