Nestle Highlights More Flavored Versions of Sparkling Water

Nestlé is all set to unveil more flavored versions of its sparkling waters, as part of its strategy to tap the growing consumer wariness toward both sugary and diet sodas.

The Vevey-based beverge giant will release a green-apple flavor for Perrier and a cherry-lemon flavor for Poland Spring, packed in redesigned slim cans, reported The Wall Street Journal.

Nestlé Waters CEO Marco Settembri was quoted by WSJ as saying: "People want bubbles. But they want healthy bubbles."

Nestlé SA aims to tap the growing health concerns about soda as it rolls out new products and boost investment in the huge US market to improve the profitability of its global water business.

The Swiss food conglomerate will invest approximately $200m in the US to construct seven production lines this year, with an aim to double its production capacity.

With its increased investment and new product line, Nestlé attempts to boost the performance of its low-margin water business.

Nestlé Waters generates a 9.7% margin, the lowest in all the company's business segments. Overall, Nestlé's margin is 15.3%.

The new strategy will also enable Nestlé to complete with its rivals such as Coke and Pepsi, as they are also mulling to launch more products to achieve sustainable growth.
