Nissan Plans to launch Leaf EV with Glow-in-The-Dark Paint

Japanese carmaker Nissan is set to introduce a new Leaf EV with glow-in-the-dark paint, using UV absorbing technology.

Using STARPATH, the paint finish introduces by Hamish Scott, the car will be able to absorbs UV energy during the day and glows for between 8 and 10 hours after the sunset, Auto Car Professional reported.

Nissan Motor EV manager Paul O'Neill was quoted by Auto Car Professional as: "The Nissan LEAF is a shining beacon of sustainability and the future of motoring.

"Not only is it saving our customers money in running costs but it we are now seeing how it is helping people become more environmentally sensitive by reducing their carbon footprint."

Currently, there number of glowing car paint available in the market as glow-in-the-dark car wraps. However, this ultraviolet-energised paint, developed exclusively for Nissan, has been created entirely organic materials.

According to the news report, this formula contains Strontium Aluminate, natural earth product that is solid, odourless and chemically and biologically inert.

In July 2014, Nissan introduced its "self-cleaning" Nissan LEAF, which uses a new paint that cleans water and dirt from the surface of the vehicle.
