Apple Will Fix iPhones with 'touch Disease'...for $149

Apple has a cure for iPhone 6 Plus devices with so-called touch disease, but it'll cost you.

On Thursday the tech giant launched a new repair program for the iPhone 6 Plus. Some iPhone 6 Plus devices may "exhibit display flickering or Multi-Touch issues after being dropped multiple times on a hard surface," reads a support page. Apple will repair iPhones with those symptoms -- assuming they're still in working order and don't have a cracked screen -- for $149.

Customers who paid more than $149 to get their iPhone 6 Plus repaired before this new program can get the difference reimbursed by Apple.

The issues were first widely reported back in August by tech site iFixit, which dubbed the problem touch disease. It's said to affect last-generation iPhones and manifest itself as "a gray, flickering bar at the top of the display and an unresponsive touchscreen." Since then, customers have filed multiple lawsuits over Apple's handling of the malfunction.

Apple declined to comment beyond the support page.

The new repair program applies only to the iPhone 6 Plus.
