Automobile major Skoda will carry out optimization of its three manufacturing units in Mladá Boleslav, Kvasiny and Vrchlabí in the Czech Republic during a three-week break on account of factory holidays.

While work for upgrade would be carried out in Kvasiny site where the factory closes between July 27 and August 14, those in Mladá Boleslav and Vrchlabí will undergo maintenance from August 3 to August 14.

Skoda board member for production and logistics Michael Oeljeklaus said: "We will be utilizing the production downtime efficiently in order to optimize and adjust our manufacturing facilities. Over the coming weeks, and continuing after the holiday, our focus will be on the planned expansion of the production facilities at the Kvasiny plant."

SKODA's main plant in Mladá Boleslav will witness servicing of equipment on both the production lines - MBI and MBII, along with some work for maintenance at the press shop and body shop.

Besides, the paint shop will be armed with a new cooling zone.

The carmaker's Kvasiny plant is set to experience an increase in its output capacity to 280,000 a year for which new equipment will be put in place at the paint shop and both the production and assembly lines will be optimized. Work for the construction of a new logistics hall is still on.

The automobile manufacturer will also upgrade the facilities for DQ-200 gearbox production at the Vrchlabí site, with its output capacity set to increase from 1500 to 2000 gearboxes a day by the next year.
