The $805m deal is for Rexam's pharmaceutical devices and prescription retail packaging divisions.
In a statement, Rexam said that following the completion of the deal it proposes to “return £450m of the proceeds to shareholders by way of a B and C share scheme together with a share capital consolidation”.
The company added a circular regarding the proposed return of cash, and including notice of a general meeting, will be sent to shareholders on or about 13 May.
