Mars Chocolate Recalls Dove Chocolate Product Over Undeclared Allergens

Mars Chocolate North America has issued a voluntary recall of its Dove Chocolate Assortment Snowflakes, 24.0 oz. bag, a seasonal product from across the US stores, due to the presence of undeclared allergens.

Around 6,700 cases of the product have been recalled after it was discovered that some of the some Snickers, Milky Way and Twix pieces, may contain wheat, peanuts or eggs. These ingredients have not been mentioned on the package labels.

Hence, consumers who are allergic to peanuts, wheat and eggs, face a threat of reaction on consumption of these products.

So far, no illnesses have been reported linked to these recalled products.

The product carries UPC code 400050521 and the lot codes of 537CG4PA30, 537DG4PA30, 538AG4PA30, 538AM4PA30, 541AG4PA20, 542EM4PA20. The recalled product comes in a purple package with clear branding mark 'Dove Chocolate Assortment Snowflakes' on the front of the package.

The UPC code and date codes are present at the back of the packaging on the lower right side.

The recalled products were shipped to only one retailer and sold at stores from 19 September 2015.

The discovery came to light when a customer found a Snickers piece in this Dove Chocolate Assortment Snowflakes and notified the company.

Mars is collaborating with the retailer to resolve the issue and to ensure that the recalled product is removed from the store shelves with immediate effect.

Consumers, who have purchased the recalled product and carry allergies to these ingredients, have been advised to return the product at the store of purchase to receive a full refund.
