'2017 F-150 Raptor' Has Covered More Than 1,000 Miles in Its Ongoing Tests

Off-road truck ‘2017 F-150 Raptor’ from the stable of Ford has covered more than 1,000 miles in its ongoing tests across the harsh desert terrain in the southwestern region in the US.

The trucks put to test by the company were drawn from early build prototypes out of a mix of 2015 F-150 Raptor and 2017 F-150 Raptor components. The 2017 F-150 Raptor is all set to hit the stores next year.

Leaving behind around 1,028 miles of desert trail put in place paralleling the Baja race course in Mexico, the truck was able to maintain an average speed of around 50 mph. Its top speed stood at 100mph, while the minimum was assessed at 10mph.

The new variant was found to be swifter by 25% than its predecessors as observed on the basis of lap times.

The laps were placed in such a manner that the vehicle had to undergo a tabletop jump at the terminal over a steep ramp up to two-feet high plateau before coming back to the level ground.

The rigorous test conducted by Ford engineers for a few days was stated to exceed what an owner can do within the lifetime of the vehicle, the company said.
