UK - Philips Selecon dealer, Lancelyn Theatre Supplies, has installed a selection of Philips Selecon PLCYC-1 LED luminaires in The Corn Exchange Wallingford. The installation will provide a super flexible, intuitive to use Cyc solution for the volunteer-run arts venue, which operates at the heart of the community in Wallingford, Oxfordshire.
Technical manager of the venue, Oliver Hemming, discusses, "Our existing cyc lights were old and falling apart. We'd heard a great deal about the creative potential the features of the new LED fixtures offer, but we weren't sure which fixtures to buy. We enlisted the advice of Reg Berry at Lancelyn Theatre Supplies, Oxford. Following a trip to the PLASA show we decided on the Philips Selecon PLCYC-1 luminaires and we've been delighted with the outcome."
Reg Berry, branch manager at Lancelyn continues, "We felt the PLCYC- was an ideal solution for the Corn Exchange Wallingford because they are easy to use and deliver a smooth even beam that will seamlessly blend intense washes of colour on cycloramas. The LED source technology combined with a properly shaped asymmetrical reflector means the PLCYC-1 delivers consistent light distribution without the compromised performance caused by the need to use vertical or horizontal spreader lenses."
"The PLCYC-1s also provide an economical solution as each luminaire can replace the equivalent of a traditional four colour 500W per circuit Cyc luminaires in saturated colours," says Amber Tomlin, key account manager in the UK for Philips Selecon. "The PLCYC-1 can light a typical cyclorama with a single 10A non-dim circuit. It's intuitive to setup, and all PLCYC-1 luminaires support wireless DMX512 control for instant connections without running control wiring."
As soon as Berry demonstrated what the PLCYC-1 could do the technical team at Wallingford were blown away. "We are impressed by how powerful they are." States Hemming. "Compared with a 500W Cyc flood the LED luminaire output is striking. The fact that you can have all that output and the wide mix of colours for just 150W is wonderful."
