YFY Paper Has Sucessfully Started Operation of Paper-Making Machine PM 3

YFY Paper, a subsidiary of Taiwan-based Yuen Foong Yu Paper Manufacturing, has sucessfully started operation of paper-making machine PM 3 supplied by Voith in Yangzhou, China.

Built with energy-efficient technology, the equipment can manufacture 450,000 metric tons of packaging paper a year with an annual turnover of €145m.

The YFY PM 3 is said to reduce electricity consumption by 20% and water by 12% for producing per ton of paper as against traditional paper-making machines, thus helpful in improving energy efficiency and reducing operating costs.

In China, the PM 3 is claimed to be the first equipment that produces paper, which does not contain any virgin wood pulp, from 100% domestically recovered paper. The paper is used mainly for food packaging.

The supply of PM 3 to YFY Paper is part of Voith Paper's ongoing efforts to contribute to the sustainable development of the papermaking industry in China.

For YFY Paper, Voith also supplied two R2S anaerobic reactors, applicable for both the YFY PM 2 and PM 3, that convert dissolved organic contaminants into biogas with a high calorific value, which can then be used to generate steam or electricity.

Voith Paper Asia Pacific president and CEO Ming Ming Liu said China is as an important market for Voith Paper.

"In particular, we believe our packaging paper machines have a great deal of untapped potential in this country," added Liu
