BMW of North America is set to recall 76,191 vehicles of certain model year 2012-2014, due to insufficient lubrication, according to National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
Models affected by this recall include 320i, 328i, 320i xDrive, and 328i xDrive sedans; model year 2014 328i xDrive Sports Wagons; model year 2012-2013 528i and 528i xDrive sedans, X1 sDrive28i and X1 xDrive28i vehicles and Z4 sDrive28i roadsters.
This defect may leads to the failure of the brake vacuum pump that supplies brake power assistance. It results in a reduction in braking power that could increase the risk of a crash.
The safety recall is expected to begin in November 2013. BMW will notify owners of affected vehicles regarding this recall.
Dealers of the luxury carmaker will modify the vehicles to prevent insufficient vacuum pump lubrication, free of charge.
