RPC Group Is Surging Ahead with More Acquisitions to Boost Growth

Plastic packaging giant RPC Group is surging ahead with more acquisitions to boost growth.

Speaking at a media event in central London this week, chief executive Pim Vervaat said that the company was becoming a leader in plastic products and not only in the packaging sector.

He added that the company was looking to build on its acquisitions outside Europe and become a global player.

“RPC only consumes 5% of the European polymer output for rigid plastics conversion,” he added. “That means there is 95% to go after. It’s a fragmented market and there is a good opportunity for us to consolidate.”

The company showcased its raft of products in categories including food and beverage, pharmaceutical, personal care and cosmetics. RPC also highlighted its technical components division, which has provided plastic products for markets including automotive.

Vervaat also pointed to the group’s strong set of financial results. For the full year, RPC posted £119m in pre-tax profit, compared to £89.5m in the previous year. Revenue was up 17% to £1.2bn.

“It is all going in the right direction,” he added.
