Jaguar Land Rover Plans to End The Production of Its Defender Model in December 2015

Jaguar Land Rover is set to end the production of its Defender model in December 2015, a move which will end the iconic vehicle’s run of 67 years.

The last of the models will roll off the production line at the company's Solihull factory in the West Midlands.

The company has taken the decision to halt the model in response to the tougher environmental and emissions laws across the world.

Jaguar Land Rover, however, is preparing a new successor, which will feature a sporty beach-buggy style. A prototype successor was introduced at the Los Angeles motor show.

A Jaguar Land Rover spokesman confirmed that the production of Defender will stop at the end of 2015.

"A replacement vehicle will join the Land Rover range, but the Defender in its current format is coming to an end," the spokesman added.
