A/W 2012 Collection Is Launched by Grayers at John Lewis

Grayers Launches A/W 2012 Collection at John LewisGrayers presents Autumn/Winter 2012 collection exclusive at John Lewis this season. The autumn winter collection was initially inspired by a wonderful late 19th century hand-sewn quilt comprised of a patchwork pattern of 15 different individual tartan plaids. After 100 plus years of use, the original bright vibrant colors of the quilt had softly faded into rich beautiful tones that permeate the Grayers A/W 12 color palette.

From richly textured garment dyed 5-pocket pin wale corduroy trousers, and densely woven oxford and poplin plaids, to compact bottom and outerwear weight twills, the gorgeous colors of the old quilt were the perfect inspiration for Grayers A/W 12 modern yet classic collection.

The inspiration behind the name Grayers came about when Peter Georgiou, Grayers founder, a 10 year Ralph Lauren veteran and veritable history buff, was reading about Britain in the 1950’s.

John Lewis, regularly voted the UK’s favourite retailer, began trading in 1864 with the opening of our first shop in London's Oxford Street. Since then, and through the efforts of our 81,000 Partners (staff), we have succeeded in becoming the largest multi-channel retailer in the UK, with 37 John Lewis shops (29 department stores and eight John Lewis at home) and a growing online business.
