Honda Has Flagged off Civic Type R Car

Japanese automobile major Honda has flagged off Civic Type R car, armed with two liter VTEC Turbo engine, out of its stable in Swindon, UK.

Poised to become the global output hub for the flagship Civic five-door model, Honda of the UK Manufacturing (HUM) will make its new Honda Civic Type exclusively for Europe. The company also plans to extend its reach beyond Europe later.

The company has also announced £200m for the manufacturing unit, adding up to £2.2b as investment made since 1985.

Honda of the UK Manufacturing (HUM) managing director Soichiro Takizawa said: "The new Civic Type R is an imperative model for Honda, representing our racing spirit and demonstrating our commitment to innovation and passion.

"We are extremely proud to be the only manufacturer of the Civic Type R in the world. Our high standards have earned us this privilege and this is testament to the continued commitment of our Associates."

Claimed to be armed with advanced new suspension systems and a new +R track mode, the engine of the new vehicle displays 306BHP at its peak power, with the red-lining at 7,000rpm translating into a top speed of 167mph.
