General Motors Issues a Recall on 2,191,014 Vehicles Due to Problem with Electrical System

American automaker General Motors has issued a voluntary recall on 2,191,014 vehicles due to a problem with the electrical systems.

Vehicles affected under this recall include certain model year 2006-2011 Chevrolet HHR, 2006-2010 Pontiac Solstice, 2005-2010 Chevrolet Cobalt, 2007-2010 Pontiac G5, 2003-2007 Saturn Ion, and 2007-2010 Saturn Sky.

The key in the affected vehicles can be removed from the ignition, when the ignition is not in the off position. If the key is removed from the ignition, there chance of vehicle rolling away.

This will result in an increased risk for a crash and will cause injuries to occupant or pedestrian.

Dealers of the carmaker will replace the ignition cylinder with the redesigned part, if the system of vehicle is not replaced earlier.

General Motors will notify the owners of the recall affected vehicles. The manufacturer has not yet provided a notification schedule for the recall.
