Toshiba Has Released a CMOS Power Amplifier That Claims to Increase The Talking Time

The technology extends the talking time in mobile phones.

Toshiba has released a CMOS power amplifier that claims to increase the talking time for mobile phones.

The new technology uses two half-sized amplifiers with their own power supply switches that can be switched between half and full voltages for controlling the output power.

Toshiba Corporate Research & Development Center research scientist Kohei Onizuka said that the technology is the first step forward in developing a mobile power amplifier.

Power amplifiers are used in mobile phones to communicate with base stations. The output power of an amplifier is affected by the distance of base station from the device or the characteristics of the information.

"We will continue to improve the technology and enhance its performance, aiming to bring it to high-powered next generation mobile phones and smart phones in a couple of years," Onizuka added.
