How to attach label to Baosteel color-coated products as greener and more environment-friendly? How to add value to Baosteel color-coated products beyond what their prices could offer? How to maintain advantage of Baosteel with high-end products in the industry? Baosteel 2013 symposium on color-coated products themed at economy, environment protection and development was held recently. It was proposed at the meeting that Baosteel would grow with the development trends of environment-friendly green color-coated products, enhance R&D efforts for high-end products, strengthen synergy with high-end users and owners, and promote application of high-end products. Vice general manager of Baoshan Iron & Steel Co., Ltd. Wang Jing attended the meeting.

Baosteel is earliest in research, import and manufacture of color-coated products in China. Since production of the first coil color-coated plates in 1989, Baosteel has accumulatively manufactured over seven million tons of premium color-coated plates used in key projects of the South Pole Scientific Investigation Station etc. and landmark of Shanghai Pudong International Airport, etc., covering areas of metallurgy, power sector, tobacco industry, automobile, ship-building, chemical industry, etc.. Its product quality wins fine reputation in the industry.

Quality performance of color-coated plates can hardly be revealled in short terms with designed longevity of maintenance structures of common industrial architectures amounting to 20-25 years. As stated by users, usually Baosteel color-coated plates needed not to be changed within its design life period; even for architectures using ordinary PE color-coated steel of Baosteel, parameters of coating and color had gone through no significant changes after over ten years or even near twenty years' usage, and the color-coated plates remained in sound conditions. As feedback from Baosteel return visit of nearly a hundred users, product quality had fully reached or surpassed the level previously promised by Baosteel.

Under support of design unit and steel-structure enterprise, Baosteel unremittingly stuck to brand strategy of manufacturing high-end products, actively promoted sales of high-end products, and moved forward critical passes and involved earlier in users' design and manufacture processes, pushed forward lean management, optimized production organization modes to diffuse high standards of Baosteel color-coated products and up-close service into every detail of user demands and won great trust from users. High-end users of Shenhua Ningxia Coal Industry Group, Dalian Machine Tool Group Corporation, BASF etc. chose high-end color-coated products of Baosteel in succession. Baosteel also emphasized close collaboration with its users in overcoming difficulties in coating layer elasticity, hardness, surface quality, plate shape, etc.. It successfully accomplished commercial supply for Mitsubishi elevators and realized entry into the elevator industry.

For works of color-coated products in 2014, Baosteel proposed that in fully competitive phase of domestic market, Baosteel would continuously deepen the build-up of color-coated product brand, live up to principles of resource conservation, energy saving and environment protection, lay emphasis on enhancing development of high-end and environment-friendly new products while promote the application of electronic commercial transaction modes in traditional industries to facilitate the transformation from supply chain to value chain and finally realize the maintaining of advantage with high-end products and leading the development of the industry.
