Automobile manufacturers Chrysler and Fiat have jointly opened a new parts distribution center in Pretoria, South Africa under the automotive parts supplier brand Mopar.

The new 19,000sqm facility will be used to distribute over 50,000 automotive parts to 80 delivery points in South Africa, Botswana and Namibia.

Mopar president and CEO Pietro Gorlier said the company will grow its parts distribution network in order to support its brands and customers in the marketplace.

"Our new parts distribution center will further improve service to our dealers, distributors and customers in this region," Gorlier added.

"We will continue to look for opportunities to support our growth."

Vehicle features introduced by Mopar include vehicle-information apps, electronic owner manuals, Wi-Fi, wireless charging, electronic vehicle tracking system (EVTS), wiAdvisor, wiTech and the 2011 Mopar Challenger Drag Pak.

Earlier, the Fiat and Chrysler collaboration has opened Mopar warehouses in Argentina, Australia, Brazil, China, Japan, South Korea, Russia, the Middle East, and the UAE.

The collaboration has helped the customer care and parts brand to expand its global reach, integrating service, parts and customer-care operations.
