Fenestration Canada Has Released The Rates and Program of Events for Its AGM

Fenestration Canada has released the rates and program of events for its Annual General Meeting taking place May 30 to June 1 in St. John's, N.L. Early bird registration rates are available until April 5.

The meeting will be held at the Sheraton Hotel Newfoundland. Overlooking St. John’s historic harbour, the hotel is at the centre of a thriving community, and offers travellers a wealth of amenities all within easy reach of the historic city’s myriad attractions. Although Newfoundland is known as "the Rock" for its rugged terrain, it is home to Canada's friendliest souls. Here in this perfect blend of rustic scenery and eastern Canadian hospitality, delegates will discover a relaxed elegance that reflects the spirit of these shores.

FC anticipates a large delegate registration and encourages everyone planning to attend to make their travel plans early to take advantage of special pricing options.

Sponsorship opportunities

Sponsors are an important part of any organization. Sponsorship allows the association to offer a more extensive program and keep registration fees reasonable. Sponsorship opportunities are available for additional recognition, promotion and exposure. Corporate sponsor logos will be featured on the Fenestration Canada website. A sponsorship form is available here .

Program highlights

The program will feature informative and relevant business sessions as well as important technical updates. A full itinerary is available here . Specific events may be subject to change.

The popular President’s Reception and Suppliers’ Showcase will precede the President’s Dinner on Friday, May 31. Fenestration Canada supplier members are given the opportunity to informally display their products during the reception period. Participation is limited and available on a first-come-first-served basis. Registration forms for the Suppliers' Showcase are available here .

Social program and entertainment

A number of very interesting and fun events are planned for those attending. A “Rally in the Ally” will get things started following registration on Thursday, May 30. St. John’s has more bars and pubs per capita than any other city in Canada and most of them are located on the infamous George Street. This evening delegates will get to experience the famous nightlife of downtown St. John’s. It begins with a traditional Pub Dinner followed by an organized Pub Crawl with Dusk Ultra Lounge as the gathering place once all have finished with their respective bars.

For our companion program, we have planned a visit to the National Park at Cape Spear, the most easterly point of land in North America. There will be a chance to explore the bunkers built by Canadian soldiers in the side of the cliffs during the Second World War. From Cape Spear the group will tour old St. John's with plenty of time to see such national historic sites as Cabot Tower and Signal Hill. The experience will give participants a feel for the history, legend and lore of St. John's, the oldest community in North America.

Delegates will also have the opportunity to participate in a couple of optional activities including the Fenestration Canada Annual Golf Tournament at one of Atlantic Canada’s premier golfing facilities and social clubs, the Clovelly which is known for its two exceptional 18-hole courses. We will be using the Osprey course which is nestled in the northeast end of St. John’s amidst natural surroundings and they pride themselves on being a family friendly club with a dynamic membership that thrives on camaraderie, friendship and fun. Tournament fees will include green fees and carts. Equipment rental is available. Please visit the coursewebsite for more information.

Alternatively, meeting participants may want to take advantage of a special tour opportunity: Birds, Bergs & Whales, where the group will travel by coach along the Irish Loop to Bay Bulls where they can join the O’Brien family for a private boat ride out to the Witless Bay Ecological Reserve. Witless Bay is also home to many humpback and minke whales. Be sure to bring your camera. For additional details, please visit McCarthy’s Party Tours . This group will also have a tour desk at the Sheraton Hotel where delegates can book additional excursions on site or plan their pre- and post-meeting travel excursions.

A block of rooms has been reserved at the Sheraton Hotel Newfoundland. A group rate of $219 for single/double accommodation has been negotiated.
